Ichiban Japanese Grill & Sushi in Tuscaloosa

I went here last night for dinner to celebrate my engagement. We had a 15 min wait to be seated. After being seated we ordered our drinks and food. It took another 30-45 mins before the cook even came to the table. The food was amazing and the cook was great. The waitress was ok. So we paid, left a tip for the waitress and left. Now I never ever ever leave a tip on my card I always leave a cash tip. So I checked my card this morning to find out they charged me $23 more that what my bill was. I am furious. I love this place and they have amazing food but I will not be returning ever again. And I will be finding out what I can do about that extra $23 dollars that they took without my knowledge. Besides the extra money being taken out of my account and the long wait my experience was great but I defiantly will not be returning.

I paid $24.55 for a chicken and shrimp combination plate. I had more rice and veggies than actual meat. It look like a scoop and a half (combined chicken and shrimp) of meat. I mind as well ordered a vegetable plate smh.

This establishment was very clean and the staff was quick and polite. The food was prepared table side so it was fresh and hot. The three star is because the quantity of food was less than expected and my steak was over cooked. I asked for medium rare and I got medium well.

First time and I really enjoy the food, specially the hibachi chicken.

The staff seems both experienced and new just has a mixture. Don’t think I caught them on their best night. People at the table were friendly and that was good. Food wasn’t cooked well though so not sure if I’d come back.

Great reasonably priced Disney restaurant. Chefs are entertaining and enthusiastic. Definitely a fun dinner.

The prices were really high for the quality of the food. Overall wouldn't recommend. The food was good, but nowhere near the price expectancy. The server on the other hand was wonderful and did an amazing job. He was tall with a black ponytail and was super polite and helpful.

Excellent service from the staff. The scenery has not changed much in the last 10 years from what I can tell. That being said, there's really nothing wrong with that. The chef was entertaining for both the small children and the adults and the food was exceptional. Overall the pricing wasn't much to bat an eye at. For example, the "Imperial dinner" came with more food than two people could actually eat. Lastly, the cocktails were made to each person's specifications and this was in a party of 15, so the fact that there were no issues with the service or orders on a busy night, really shows that the staff took extra care in preparing each part.

My first time there. The staff were Very Nice and the food was good. They give you Lots of rice. The Chef was good but I wouldn't make a special trip there.

Great service accompanied by wonderful food. Has one of the best sushi chefs along the I-95 corridor I have experienced. Worth a stop for sure if you are in the Rocky Mount, NC area

So we as a family went here for our 12 yrs bday. Started out great. By the time we were done two of the kids hadnt eattin. There were 13 of us so we went more then halfway around the table, when i asked the cook why he said he makes and places where the waitress writes. Was very disappointed. And as honest of a mistake it was, one of the kids was the bday girl who missed out on eatting. They made it for us but we ened up just taking most of the food home as most of us adults has lost our appetite by this point.

The food was good. But what makes it great vs just good is the cook. We we're there as a team after a long day. The parents sat at one table and the players sat at another. The parents for the entertainer and we got the cook. Which was great because the rest of the day was about the kids.

So glad to have Ichiban Sushi back!! Delicious as always and the staff is amazing!!!!

I'm a regular customer here. ALWAYS have great chefs, every chef makes great food. if I ever have friends or family visit I always bring them here because I know it'll be a good experience!Whether I am at one of the grills or go to the sushi bar area I always have great food and drinks. In my experience I tend to see the wait staff more attentive in the sushi area but it is smaller and easier for them to see everyone.

Went for lunch, they only serve hibachi no sushi. The crowd was diverse, ranging from raccoon rehabilitators to crackheads. The tea was excellent and the cook was great. He did not put on the usual show and dance since the guests were not the type to appreciate it. I've been here multiple times for dinner and it was not like this. Hopefully just an isolated event, as this was one of the few places in rocky mount worth eating.

Itvwas ok but I was not impressed with it. Little over rated but my girlfriend likes it so got to do what she wants.

Great food and a fun atmosphere. Usually eat here a couple times a year and its always very good.

I absolutely recommend this resturant. It is extremely beautiful inside and the staff is so friendly. The food is delightful and very satisfying. You will take some home every visit.

Our Chef Brian was amazing, super funny guy. The food was good. The thing that I am giving it 3 stars for is that this place needs to be renovated. The tables in the back where we were sat were no place to put people. It was so uncomfortable and the AC (which they cannot turn off) is blowing full force on top of your head. And do not let someone whom you are seated with (in the middle seats) have to get up for any reason, the whole table has to scoot out across a gross carpet that your butt has to sit on. I am sure they know they need a makeover but just cannot let business stop for it. At the least please get rid of those back two tables without the chairs, I am willing to bet that people that are sat back there never return.

Spent 40 minutes trying to get my order placed and was sent straight to voicemail with no option to speak to anyone after receiving an email stating that they couldn’t accept my order and that I should call the store if I had any questions. I resubmitted my order and was told I had over an hour wait and then received a call from the store which I missed but was able to call back instead of being sent straight to voicemail.

Food is always delicious! Service is great as well.

I ate here two years ago and I posted a photo that is no longer on here. I dont post photos without reviews and I don't see a review on here either. Must have been deleted. I remember eating here and not liking the food. Not good quality and it upset my stomach. Guess they delete negative comments

I can only speak on the sushi I had and to me, it seems like it was prepared by an amateur chef. I make better sushi at home. I was so excited when I found this place (I like to try different sushi places when I travel) and disappointed when I left. The server was very pleasant though, reason for two stars. Another thing I do not like, charging gratuity when it was only two of us. I would have given more than the gratuity but did not, because I feel that a restaurant should not decide that, unless it is a large party. I will not return to Ichiban again!

Ordered lunch for our staff and I was so impressed with the phone courtesy, the quick delivery to our place of business and the food was amazing!!

Very good service overall because of the friendly staff. Food service probably the best in town. I love sitting at the sushi bar and watching the news on their big screen TV. But I noticed they don't have real green tea (they gave me tea bag) and they should focus more on the traditional rolls often served at some of the best placed on the east coast. But whenever I want sushi in Rocky Mount, this is where I go!

amazing! well trained , personable chefs. so much food coming as you like it cooked you think "there's no way i can eat all this" but you do. korean beef to die for. yum yum sauce that cannot be replicated. it can be purchased in house to take home.all in all an absolutely delightful experience.

Food was good. Bathroom was clean.Giving restaurant 3 stars for 2 reasons. I ordered a drink from the bar while at the bar. The bar tender took my credit card and horded it somewhere!!! She went to tend to others and even brought out food to a small table near the bar area. I had to ask for my card back ... meanwhile, I was already called to be seated at the table in the back. I clearly let the bartender know upfront that I was waiting to be seated in the back and wasn't running a tab. So, I didn't like my card being held hostage. When I sat in the back, one table was so LUCKY TO HAVE the cook that did A FEW cool tricks....my table got a DUD.... yes a FIRECRACKER DUD... The only thing that rascal did was AT THE END was light fire to some onions. Travelers like me EXPECT the cook to entertain the guests in some type of performance.... if I could have seen into the future, then I would had bypassed the disappointment and just ordered take out.

Pricey but the best Japanese steak and sushi place I know of!! Recommend for occasions and I love the dinner for two specials we always take leftovers home and have another meal next day!!!

Good food and entertaining chefs. Prices are what you would expect but not too bad considering the amount of food you are served. Extensive sushi menu from fully cooked to crazy and everything in between. Jalapeno popper and firecracker are really good.

Delicious, as always. Our chef, Bobby, was comical and did a great job cooking and serving our group of 8. Our reservations were for 6 o'clock and we were seated as soon as we all arrived. Everything was great...and we had plenty to bring home with us!

The food and atmosphere is great!!.. I enjoy meeting friends for lunch and dinner!
